Shrimp Cocktail – Mexican Recipe

A shrimp cocktail that combines refreshing ingredients and is perfect for the hot season. Something delicious for your special day.


  • 450 g large raw shrimp (cleaned and peeled)
  • 5 cups water
  • salt
  • 1 1/4 cups tomato sauce or spicy ketchup
  • 2 cups English cucumber cubes
  • 1-2 serrano chiles (chopped)
  • 2 seedless Roma tomatoes (diced)
  • 1/3 cup chopped white onion
  • 1/3 cup chopped cilantro, more for garnish
  • 1 large avocado, cut into cubes
  • 3-4 lime juice
  • salt and pepper taste
  • spicy sauce
  • saltine crackers or toast


Cook shrimp in boiling salted water for just 2 minutes or until pink. Drain the shrimp, transfer to a bowl of ice water, and set aside.

In a large bowl, mix all ingredients in the order listed above. Taste for salt, pepper, and hot sauce to taste. Drain the cooled shrimp and add to the sauce mixture. Cover and chill for 1 hour before serving.

Pour into a wide glass and garnish with cilantro and avocado on top. Enjoy with crackers.
