Horchata – Mexican recipe

Aguas Fresca is a very refreshing and comforting drink that complements typical Mexican dishes with its deliciousness. Plus, it helps beat the heat and give your palate a break after a typical spicy Mexican meal. Another typical drink is horchata, whose main ingredient is rice. The horchata water is fresh, sweet, and cold, and you can never miss the spicy touch of cinnamon.

  • 1 cup long grain white rice
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 5 cups water
  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla

Pour the rice and water into the blender container. Stir until rice begins to break up, about 1 minute. Let the rice and water stand at room temperature for at least 3 hours.

Strain the rice water into a jug and discard the rice.

Add the milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar to the rice water and stir. Cool, stir, then serve with ice.
