Atole is a drink thickened with masa gallina, corn flour, or cornstarch and sweetened with piloncillo (unrefined sugar). It is the base for a variety of Mexican drinks and desserts.
This atole is flavored with cinnamon, but you can also add a little mint. The one flavored with chocolate is called champurrado.
material:
- 1 liter of milk.
- 1 can of evaporated milk.
- 200 g of natural or frozen strawberries.
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch (cornstarch)
- 1 cinnamon pod
- Sugar as you like
Preparation:
Wash the strawberries thoroughly and mix without adding cinnamon.
Place the strawberries in a container and heat over low heat. Add cinnamon and sugar and stir until boiling.
Meanwhile, dissolve the cornstarch in a small amount of water without leaving any lumps.
Heat the cornstarch with the strawberries, add the milk and stir constantly over medium heat until thickened.
