Custard – Mexican Recipes

The custard is like a very soft and creamy pudding, but instead of the typical vanilla or chocolate flavor, it has a very Mexican flavor, like cinnamon! This dessert has been popular for many years.

material: Makes 6 servings

  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/3 cup flour or cornstarch
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs (separated)
  • cinnamon powder

*Optional: You may also add lemon zest.

Heat the milk in a pot.

In a separate bowl, mix the egg yolks with the sugar, flour and salt.

Add about 1/2 to 1 cup of warm milk to cool the mixture.

Add the mixture to the pot and heat until it boils and thickens.

Add vanilla. Remove from heat.

Whip the egg whites in a large bowl until stiff, then add the mixture to the egg whites.

Sprinkle cinnamon on top.

Put it in the refrigerator. Serve chilled.
